This Privacy Policy explains how AnimeAsk ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the AnimeAsk mobile application and the website animeask.app (together, the "Service").
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, Apple or Discord, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier from the sign-in provider. We never see or store your password.
Usage content. The questions you ask, the answers you receive, your selected anime and episode progress, and your feedback on each answer are stored so the app can show your history and improve answer quality.
Subscription information. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. We only receive your subscription status and plan — we never see or store your payment details.
Preferences. Settings such as theme, language and text size are stored on your device.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: answering your anime questions without spoilers.
- To maintain your conversation history and episode progress across devices.
- To manage your subscription and question quota.
- To improve answer quality using your feedback.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
Third-party services we rely on
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Google / Apple / Discord — sign-in providers (only used when you choose them).
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — your questions are processed by the Claude AI model to generate answers.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing and payment processing.
- AniList — public anime metadata (titles, episode counts, characters). No personal data is shared with AniList.
Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policies.
Data retention
Your account data and conversation history are kept for as long as your account exists. You can clear your conversation history at any time from the app.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the address below.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with industry-standard security practices. Sign-in uses secure OAuth flows — we never handle your passwords.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Significant changes will be communicated in the app.
